3 SEO Tasks to Complete at the Beginning of the Year

As 2019 kicks off, it is a wonderful time to do an SEO check of those things that often get overlooked in the rush of business. While you should be doing these tasks throughout the year, make sure to start 2019 by having just completed them. Here are three SEO tasks to do in January.

Page Load Speeds

Customers on mobile devices will not wait any longer than three seconds for your web page to load before they are off to your competitor’s site. Therefore, take a look at your Google Analytics to make sure they found that all of your web pages loaded in under three seconds. JavaScript and WordPress plugins are often the issue.

Broken Links

Now is a great time to make sure that all your links are working properly. You can use software to find these links for you. An even better idea if you have a small website is to click on the links themselves to see if they are still going where you want them to go. Remember you should be using links to point your viewers to information that enhances their lives.

Thin Content

Over time, some pages on your website may become irrelevant as the future of your business changes. Other times, you wrote something in a hurry and it is full of errors. When a page no longer meets your company’s quality standards, then it is time to replace it. In most cases, you should use coded redirect to current information on your site. If you do not have a logical place to redirect them, then you may need to create new content for that page.

The new year will look bright if you take care of these SEO tasks now. The post-holiday rush is a great time to make sure you are prepared for a new year. Then, take a second to mark your calendar to remind yourself to redo it regularly throughout the new year. If you need help with these or other tasks, then contact us about SEO in Las Vegas.
